Getting a House Ready for Photos


The Week Before

  • Deep clean the house, including windows and floors

  • Replace any non functioning light bulbs

  • Pressure wash driveways, pathways, and porches

  • Clean branches and pine needles off the roof

  • Mow the lawn

  • Weed flower beds

  • Arrange furniture to your liking

  • Add artwork to bare walls (if desired)

Day of the Shoot

  • Open all blinds

  • Turn on all the lights

  • Remove cars from the driveway and front of home

  • Move garbage and recycling cans out of sight

  • Wind up outdoor hoses or disconnect and hide

  • Remove all clutter (countertops, tables, shoes by the door, etc.)

  • Make all the beds

  • Put away any clothing

  • Hide any pet related items (litter box, water bowls, toys, etc.)

  • Remove any magnets or photos on the refrigerator

  • Hide indoor trash cans

  • Hide electronic wiring (tv, phone cords, other charging cables)

  • Make sure kitchen is clean and sinks are empty

  • Remove personal care items from shower, bathtubs, sinks, and counters
